Multi-Act Line-ups Tour U.S.; Monkees' 45th Anniversary Tour

Summer’s here (or fast-approaching) and the time is right for dancing in the streets.  Well, with apologies to Martha Reeves, perhaps getting down in traffic is not the best idea.  But if dancing in the aisles at your local concert venue is more your speed, there are a couple of great all-star concert tours with a nostalgic bent that may be headed to a shed near you this summer.

If ‘60s pop-rock is your cup of tea, the 2011 edition of the Happy Together Tour should fit the bill.  Featuring Flo & Eddie, aka Mark Volman & Howard Kaylan, of the Turtles; the Association; the Buckinghams; the Grass Roots; and Mark Lindsay, lead singer on all those great Paul Revere & the Raiders hits, this will be the next best thing to being at the Hollywood Bowl in the Summer of ’68.

But if you’d like a little more sound of the ‘70s in your musical diet, how about HippieFest 2011?  Taking to the stage will be Dave Mason, Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, Rick Derringer, “Dreamweaver” Gary Wright and Felix Cavaliere, front-man of the Rascals.

Now, if neither of those line-ups float your boat, catch this, TV & Music fans:  The Monkees 45^thAnniversary Tour kicks off in the UK in May and then rolls across the U.S. all summer long.  It’s their first tour in over 15 years and, as in the past, Mike Nesmith is sitting this one out.  But Micky, Davy and Peter will all be there and, if you’re lucky enough to see them at their final show in Los Angeles on July 16, it’s rumored that Mike just might show up for the finale.
